Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a Brazilian wax, partial Brazilian, and bikini wax?
Every waxing salon and spa has different names for the Brazilian wax. At Brazil Appeal Waxing a full Brazilian wax removes all the hair in front & back. Our partial Brazilian removes all the hair in the back but leaves a "landing strip" or "triangle" in front. A regular bikini wax only removes the hair that would normally poke out when wearing a regular-cut swimsuit.
I've never had a Brazilian wax before. What can I expect @ Brazil Appeal Waxing?
If you're a new client, you'll be given a 1-page consultation sheet to fill out when you arrive. You will then have a pre-consultation with your waxing specialist to make sure it's safe for you to have the treatment. Your waxing specialist will give you some instructions and then briefly leave the room for you to undress in privacy. When she returns, she will go over in detail the Brazilian wax treatment and answer any questions you may have. Following your service, you will be given a Post-wax Home Care Sheet.
After my first Brazilian wax, when should I come back?
It depends on how fast your hair grows and hair growth is determined by many factors. Unlike many waxing salons & spas who recommend you come back every 3-weeks, we suggest 4 - 6 weeks for women and 8-weeks for men. For best results, your hair down there needs to be at least 1/2 inch or longer. We can wax you at 1/4 inch, but it will cause you more discomfort because the specialty wax we use shrink wraps around each hair, therefore, it needs to be longer for the wax to grip properly.
How much time does it take for you to do a women's or men's Brazilian wax?
Many factors determine how long your Brazilian wax treatment will take such as the amount of hair to be removed, the density (thickness) of your hair, if you have back-to-back growth (an additional and separate hair growth cycle), or if you have ingrown hairs to be removed. On your 1st visit to Brazil Appeal Waxing your waxing specialist will take more time because she's explaining all the steps to reduce any anxiety. If you factor in the consultation, female clients need to allocate 1-hour treatment time + 10-minutes for check out & rebooking. Any future visits will be approximately 45-minutes treatment time. If you're a male client wanting a Brazilian wax, you need to allocate 1.5 hours for your 1st visit. Any future visits will be approximately 1-hour treatment time.
Most of the Brazilian waxes I've had usually took under 20-minutes and were extremely painful. Since your Brazilians are 45-60 minutes does this mean I have to endure up to 60-minutes of pain?
Absolutely not! Our Brazilian wax service is not painful! Please click on our "5 Reasons Brazilians Hurt" page to discover why your past Brazilian waxing experience involved unnecessary pain. At Brazil Appeal Waxing your experience will be completely different than what you are used to. We do not offer fast, painful, assembly-line Brazilian waxing services where you're in and out in 15-minutes. We take our time to do it right and give you a proper and virtually painless Brazilian waxing treatment. Your comfort & safety is out #1 priority and not how many clients we can squeeze into a 1-hour time slot to make more money. That's why we only accept a few clients per day.
Why do you charge more for your Brazilian wax when most places charge $45-$65?
Good question. Please click on our "You Get What You Pay For" page which goes into detail showing you how Brazil Appeal Waxing is actually less expensive per minute than our competitors. To sum up, many other waxing salons offer assembly-line waxing where they lower the prices to lure you in, give you a rushed and painful service, and then tell you to come back in three (3) weeks even though your hair down there is not long enough just so they can make more money at your physical & emotional expense. It's really shameful. At Brazil Appeal Waxing, your virtually painless Brazilian wax will not be rushed and will be done not by a recent beauty school graduate, but by a seasoned professional waxing specialist with 23 years under her belt. It will be recommended that you come back every 4 - 6 weeks for women and 8-weeks for men not every 3 weeks. Our waxing products are the best in the world, and it will be a spa-like experience.
I have a low pain tolerance. Do you offer any numbing cream or do I even need it?
For most clients, our virtually painless and unique Brazilian waxing method does not require any application of numbing creams, nor do we have to liquor you up beforehand. Ditto for any prescription pain meds you may have at home. That said, we do recognize that not everyone's pain tolerance is the same so with that in mind we do offer a topical 5% lidocaine spray (for an extra charge) that can be applied 10-minutes before your treatment begins.
I'm going on vacation soon so when should I book my Brazilian wax with you and how many days will I be red down there?
Erythema (redness) varies from person-to-person. However, with our unique virtually painless Brazilian wax method you will only be slightly pink for a few hours, and it usually goes away by the next day. If you're in a pinch for time you can safely have your Brazilian wax service at Brazil Appeal Waxing the day before your vacation, however, we recommend at least 2 - 3 days before your vacay. Bon voyage!
I just shaved my bikini area. How long will I have to wait before I can get a Brazilian?
Hair growth varies from person-to-person depending on many factors. Generally speaking, women who shave need to wait anywhere from 3 - 4 weeks before their hair is long enough to be safely waxed. For male clients who shave, it's usually 5 - 6 weeks. Remember, with our wax, your hair needs to be at least 1/2 inch long or longer to be successfully waxed with the least amount of pain.
How should I prepare for my Brazilian wax?
If you get your Brazilian wax at Brazil Appeal Waxing, you don't need to mentally prepare yourself or even have a drink beforehand because it's not going to be painful. However, we cannot say that about other waxing businesses. Other than that, we do appreciate if you shower beforehand or if you're coming straight from work, please shower that morning. We also have available baby wipes for you to freshen up with (on request) before your service begins. Although our waxing specialist will prep your bikini area before waxing, it makes the session so much more pleasant for you and her when you arrive 'fresh & clean'.
Do I need to trim or cut my hair down there before I arrive?
Please don't. Other waxing salons may ask you to trim before arriving at their salon, but it's best if our waxing specialist trims for you because clients usually trim hair down there too short making it more difficult and more painful to remove the hair.
I'm on my period. Can I still come in for a Brazilian wax?
Yes. However, you need to be aware that some women are more sensitive down south days before and during their periods and may experience a bit more discomfort than normal when getting their Brazilian wax. On the other hand, other women aren't as sensitized during this time and feel no difference with their treatment. If you know that this service causes you more discomfort during this time, we advise you to wait a week after your period ends to have your Brazilian wax. We recommended women who are on their periods and want a Brazilian wax to please wear a tampon. Your waxing specialist will work around the tampon and so it is not necessary to remove it during the session. Brazil Appeal Waxing does offer complimentary tampons just in case you forget yours or need it to be replaced after your session. So just go with the flow as we say!
I'm a male client who wants to get a men's Brazilian wax, but I'm concerned if my body may react unintentionally during the wax session. Please advise.
Our waxing specialist has 23-years of Brazilian waxing experience with both male & female clients using professional protocols to make our clients feel comfortable during their session. It is not uncommon for a male client to have an unintentional erection and/or a tiny amount of seminal fluid escaping from his penis during a Brazilian wax. This is very common even for a doctor who is examining a male patient in the exam room. It's simply not an issue because it is unintended by the client. However, any purposeful and/or intended sexual acts and/or lewd sexual conversation initiated by any male client during their session with our waxing specialist will not be tolerated. Your session will end immediately and you will be responsible for full payment of the treatment. You will also be banned from any future appointments at Brazil Appeal Waxing.
Do you supply disposable panties for a partial Brazilian wax?
At Brazil Appeal Waxing, our Brazilian waxes are done in the most professional and sanitary manner using medical-grade gloves. For those ages 18+, we prefer to do this treatment sans panties because we find them to be a bit of a hindrance with our partial and full Brazilian waxing service. However, for ages (14 - 17) we will use disposable panties upon request. Our goal is to make all of our clients comfortable and happy.
I'm 8-months pregnant and sensitive down there. Is it too late for me to get a Brazilian wax before I give birth?
Absolutely not. Pre-natal Brazilian waxing is very popular at Brazil Appeal Waxing. We can safely provide this service 1 - 2 weeks before your due date. Extra pillows and a heated treatment table will be provided for your comfort.
I just gave birth. How long do I have to wait before I can get a Brazilian wax?
If you gave birth vaginally with no complications, you could have a Brazilian wax after 2 months. If you have a C-section, it would be 4 months. With our C-section clients, we're very careful not to go over your scar with the wax as it typically takes 8 - 12 months for the incision to fully heal.
Can I have my spouse/partner or friend in the treatment room with me?
Unfortunately, no. This decision is due to our Covid-19 protocols we have in place to keep everyone safe. If your spouse or friend wants to accompany you to your appointment, they can wait for you outside the treatment room door where there is a chair.
Can I bring my child with me and have them sit in the hallway?
Unfortunately, there is no staff available to watch your child while you get your Brazilian wax. Unless your child (age 11 - 17) is getting a service at Brazil Appeal Waxing and is accompanied by you, we don't allow children in the treatment room while their parent/guardian/sibling/relative/friend is getting a waxing service.
